Siapa sangka anak kelahiran Kota Belud ini mempunyai bakat yang tidak diduga. Beliau meninggalkan kampung halamannya untuk mendapatkan segulung ijazah selama 3 tahun di bumi asing namun tanpa disangka bukan setakat ijazah yang berada digenggaman tetapi satu bakat yang tidak mudah untuk dimiliki oleh insan biasa. Bakat yang dikurniakan oleh ALLAH S.W.T ini digunakan dengan sebaik-baiknya untuk menjadi seorang yang berguna kepada umat manusia. Tahun 2001 menjadi nadi permulaan beliau untuk bersama-sama kump Syawal. Menghasilkan 6 buah lagu nasyid pertama, beliau menjadikan kump Syawal seperti mendapat sentuhan baru untuk berjuang dalam industri nasyid tanah air.

"WHAT RONNY SAY ABOUT HIS LIFE AND SYAWAL"

Walt Disney’s said: If you can dream it, you can make it! And everything starts with a dream. Since 1991, I knew I got this talent, even just a rough idea, I start writing songs, just few singles. Well, to make it happen, I formed my own vocal group, Modern Boys. To make it into our EP, we rename it Modern Boys The Next Generation (MBTNG).

All I remember, our not-so famous singles “Maelyna” and “I think I’m in love” really make impact in 1993. “Maelyna” was our dream (during our Modern Boys’ days), a girl with great persona. That’s school boys love story. With so much into love story, and thinking about growing up, I end up writing “I think I’m in love”. Then the fame just last for 2 years, prior to our separation (group) by the end of 1994, MBTNG vanished, but the dream is still alive.

Back in 2000, I found this SYAWAL with another version of singing a song, 6 lads with huge dreams, flying without wings, start as a cover-version group. They surely sound like RAIHAN + BackStreet Boys. One of them approached me after listening un-intentionally of my solo demo. Eventually, I start writing my own version of so-called Nasyid. But still cannot get into the right pronunciation, which means, not in the real stream. Ok, then, I starts writing another series of songs, which they request to be more local-music track.

I still remember, back in March 2001, when I suddenly hit by the idea, writing “Hikmah” in just 15 minutes, all done well, with rhythm and words, solely based on the hadith “Almighty ALLAH”… I then present them with the new song and from that day, “Hikmah” became striking single, purely SYAWAL original. It has been followed with “Bagaikan Puteri” and “Muhasabah Diri”, performed in few gigs (in Kota belud), and ha ha…they make an impact!

Working with them, totally on freelance basis (no income at all, ha ha…), giving me opportunity to really look into my own ability. Between December 2000 until March 2002, about 30 songs have been written to SYAWAL, all by my self. I really look forward to see SYAWAL, these days, to march on the real ground of music. I don’t really think on financial revenue, but more on appreciation of music itself.

When we did the demo “Getting Together”, back in February 2002, our tools were very much backward, with vinyl tapes, we got that demo (as you can see on the front page of http://syawalmusic.blogspot.com/. The idea of making the “walk away” front cover is a symbolic of the end of chapter 1 of SYAWAL. But, still, in these few yester-years, we, indeed still got hopes, and always on the dream to make it really happen.

Now, in 2009, approximately 9 years after the first encounter with SYAWAL, they’re back!

In this blog, surely to wake-up the histories, they got the new wave. For me, WHY NOT! If you can dream it, You can make it!

Go SYAWAL! Claim back the lost 9 years of glory. And for me…I always be around, whenever SYAWAL needs me.
